Purchasing a Seutu+ season ticket with school transport support for the 2026–2027 school year
If you receive school transport support from Kela, you can purchase a Seutu+ season ticket with a purchase entitlement. This means that the support is taken into account when you buy the ticket. Kela does not pay the school transport support into your bank account.
First, apply for school transport support in OmaKela. Once Kela has granted you a purchase entitlement, you can buy a Seutu+ season ticket with school transport support. Buy the supported ticket only when your studies and daily travel begin. The ticket is valid immediately from the time of purchase, and a purchased ticket with school transport support cannot be cancelled.
Do not buy a normal-priced ticket if you are an upper secondary student and are entitled to school transport support.
1. Find out which validity area is suitable for your school journey
First, make sure that your school journey is made on Seutu+ routes. Seutu+ transport serves connections outside urban regions and connections from surrounding municipalities to central cities. You can find Seutu+ routes in the journey planner at seutuplus.fi.
Once you know which route you use, check which validity area for a season ticket with school transport support is suitable for your journey. The validity areas can be found on seutuplus.fi under Tickets and prices > Ticket with school transport support > Validity areas and connections.
If you also need a connecting or transfer journey on Föli, Paikku, Gyyt or Pori public transport services, choose a season ticket that also covers these journeys.
2. Apply for school transport support in OmaKela
Apply for school transport support electronically in OmaKela.
In the application, select
- public transport as the mode of transport
- Waltti as the ticket seller.
If you use both Seutu+ transport and connecting or transfer services on Föli, Paikku, Gyyt or Pori public transport, select Waltti as the ticket seller for both parts of the journey.
Once Kela has processed your application, check in OmaKela that you have been granted a purchase entitlement.
3. Buy a Seutu+ season ticket with school transport support
You can buy the supported ticket
- in the Seutu+ mobile app
- in the top-up service on the Seutu+ website
- at a Seutu+ service point.
Your right to support is checked from Kela using your personal identity code.
If you buy the ticket in the Seutu+ mobile app or on the Seutu+ service pages, select the season ticket with school transport support, which is marked with a yellow background in the services. Buying the ticket requires strong electronic identification.
If you visit a service point, tell the customer service representative that you are an upper secondary student and want to buy a Seutu+ season ticket with school transport support.
Buy the ticket only when your studies and daily travel begin. The ticket is valid immediately from the time of purchase, and a purchased ticket with school transport support cannot be cancelled.
Other things to note
The Seutu+ season ticket is valid on Seutu+ routes and in certain urban public transport services. It is not valid, for example, on long-distance buses.
You can use the Seutu+ season ticket with school transport support either in the Seutu+ mobile app or on a Seutu+ travel card. Do not load tickets to both at the same time. If you load the ticket both in the mobile app and onto the card, both purchases will use up your support months.
